Lynn lives in Linwood, NJ, and has been creating resin art for five years. As it happens with many artists and crafters, she turned her hobby into a business after realizing so many people enjoyed her pieces. Lynn’s husband was definitely on to something when he jokingly told her to get a hobby. She not only built a business from it, but she also found her perfect form of meditation, something she says is her favorite part of her work.

Tammy is from Haddon Township, NJ, and started her business in 2019. She could sew from a young age and frequently made baby gifts for family and friends, so she quit her full-time job and opened her own business. Tammy loves the creativity that comes with making unique gifts being part of a creative community of people who are living out their dreams using their talents.

Candace is from nearby Mays Landing, NJ, and she started her business at 14 (she did her first OC Block Party at 15). But she started painting at the age of 2 and never stopped. Candace is also a Licensed Associate Counselor in NJ, which is how she so easily recognized the therapeutic value of painting and how it calmed her busy mind and helped her to be present and lean into imperfection. She loves those things about her business, as well as getting to meet so many different people.

Oliver’s favorite part of this business is when his mom comes home with treats, but his mom’s favorite part is using the profits from these gorgeous, high-quality items for something she considers incredibly important to her family.

They started with small floral arrangements in cricket boxes, the small hinged boxes with holes used for pet crickets, giving their business its distinctive name. Denise and Charlie live in Southern NJ, and have been running their home decor business since 1994. Kids’ activities and sports can become costly, as many parents know, so Denise and Charlie started Woodcraft Creek as a means to supplement their income and pay for these extras. Newer technologies played a part, too, by allowing them to create their designs in a more streamlined fashion. If you ask them, they’ll tell you that just being able to be creative with their business is what they love the most about it.
